Zoran Jolevski
Republic of North Macedonia Minister of Defense and Ambassador, Faculty
Ambassador Jolevski served as Vice Rector for International Cooperation at the European University Skopje. In addition to the European University Skopje, he also lectured at American and European universities. Professor Jolevski was a Fellow at Harvard University from January 2021 until May 2022.
Ambassador Zoran Jolevski has 30 years of academic, diplomatic, managerial, and consulting experience in the fields of diplomacy, international trade, international development, national security, public-private dialogue, and private sector development.
Dr. Jolevski served as Minister of Defense and as Ambassador to the United States. He was Secretary General of the Cabinet of the late Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski. He was also the main advisor to the Macedonian Government for accession to the World Trade Organization and played a key role in major international negotiations for his country.
Ambassador Jolevski was Chief Negotiator from 2008 until 2014 on name differences with Greece, conducted under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. He negotiated the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with China. Among his many notable accomplishments, he coordinated Macedonia’s response to the refugee crisis during the Kosovo War, contributed to the Ohrid Agreement, which brought peace to the country, and was Secretary of the negotiation team for the International Conference on Former Yugoslavia.
Professor Jolevski was a board member of several companies and non-governmental organizations and held various positions in United Nations bodies related to international trade. He currently serves as President of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives and Policies and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Ambassador’s Round Table in San Diego, USA.
Dr. Jolevski was an honorary board member of "Macedonia 2025" and is currently an Advisory Board member. He founded and served as the first President of the Institute for Economic Strategies and International Affairs – "Ohrid" and was President of "The Boris Trajkovski International Foundation". He also presided over the Art Colony Debarca for several years and was a member of the Presidency of the Macedonian Euro-Atlantic Club (2004-2005).
Jolevski holds a Ph.D. in International Economy from the School of Economics, University of “Cyril and Metodij”, and a Master of Science in International Trade Law from the Law School at the same university. He has authored four books, served as chief editor of several publications, and written over fifty articles.
