Susana Lagüela

Dr. Susana Lagüela holds a Degree in Mining and Energy Engineering, a MA in Environmental Technology and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Vigo. During her predoctoral studies, she was a visiting researcher in the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), in University of California – Berkeley (USA) and in ITC-CNR sede di Padova (Italy). After her PhD, she was a postdoctoral invited researcher in ETH Zurich and in Delft University of Technology. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher and the head of the Cátedra Iberdrola VIII Centenario in the Department of Cartographic and Terrain Engineering in the University of Salamanca. She has directed several research projects on energy efficiency and renewable energies, and is the author of more than 75 papers published in international journals of reference in engineering (h-index 21).


Her research focuses on the development of tools for the calculation, design and assessment of renewable energy installations, mainly focusing on solar energy and hybrid exploitations (solar + geothermal, solar + wind), and on the effects of decarbonization of the energy network on climate change.
