Steve Selby

Steve Selby, A Washington, D.C.-based educator and consultant.


Steve has been an instructor and director of professional development for Michigan State University’s Washington Semester program since 1998. This program provides students opportunities to pursue academic interests while interacting with policymakers and gaining practical experience through internships in a wide range of settings. Steve also coordinates professional development workshops for the University of California’s Washington, D.C. program (UCDC) and has helped design and manage week-long policy immersion programs in the nation’s capital for the University of Southern California’s School of Social Work.


Steve brings more than 25 years of experience in providing strategic council to nonprofit, political and business clients. His experience includes the development of television, radio and print advertising. Steve also managed communications efforts for the TransAtlantic Business Dialogue and the French-American Business Council.


A native of California, Steve is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz. Steve and his wife, Sarah Flanagan, vice president of government affairs for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, are the parents of three children and live in Falls Church, Virginia.​
