Isabel Roldán Gómez

Isabel Roldán Gómez is a Lecturer in Philosophy of Religion at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Salamanca. She previously served as an Associate Lecturer at the same department from 2019 to 2020 and was a member of the Research Academic Staff at the Department of History of Law and Political and Moral Philosophy at the same University from 2014 to 2018.

She has taught various subjects to date. The subjects covered include: Critical Thinking, Business Ethics, History of Religions, Philosophy of Religion, History of Philosophy, Islamic Thinking, Didactics of Philosophy, Education for Citizenship, Feminist Ethic and Feminist Theory, Contemporary Feminist Theories, and Political Philosophy.

In October 2018, she earned her PhD in Philosophy (Cum Laude and an international doctorate mention). Her dissertation, titled ‘Bioethics in a postsecular perspective’, was developed with a pre-doctoral contract funded by Junta de Castilla y León and co-funded by the European Social Fund.

Her research focuses on the influence of religion on the public sphere, particularly in the field of bioethics, through the concept of ‘postsecular’. She also studies religions, with a focus on Judaism and Jewish identity, from both political and anthropological perspectives. In addition, she is interested in the intersection between gender and religion (Feminist Theology).

She participates in national and international research projects focused on citizenship, enlightened reason, ethical identities, and bioethics. To expand her research on Judaism, she completed two pre-doctoral research stays at The Ben Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Zionism and Israel, at Ben Gurion University in Israel.

Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Spanish Association of Ethics and Political Philosophy.
