Fernando Lopez-Alves

Director



Fernando Lopez-Alves is Professor of Global and International Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and CEO of GR Solutions. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Political Science from UCLA, as well as a Master’s degree in Philosophy. 


He served as Director of the University of California Washington Center in Washington, D.C. for five years, and over the past fifteen years has founded and led research centers and think tanks across Latin America and Europe. Dr. Lopez-Alves is the author of eight academic books and fifty-six scholarly articles published in leading professional journals. 


In addition, he has written more than 200 journalistic pieces in Spanish and English for various international media outlets. He divides his time between Washington, D.C. and Salamanca.


Publications & Academic Contributions

López-Alves is the author of ten academic books published by Princeton University Press, Duke University Press, Cambridge University Press, Sudamericana, Santillana, and MacMillan. In addition, he has published four monographs and over fifty peer-reviewed academic articles, along with sixty articles in printed media. He has also worked as a foreign correspondent for several renowned media outlets.
