Fernando Lopez-Alves

Director




Fernando López-Alves holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s in Political Science from UCLA, as well as a Master’s in Philosophy. He is a Professor Global and International Studies, University of California, and CEO of GeoRisk Institute.

For five years, he directed the University of California Washington Center in Washington, D.C., UCSB Program. Over the last fifteen years, he has founded and led multiple research centers and think tanks across different countries. He has been a researcher and visiting faculty at several leading universities, including Princeton University, UCLA, University of London, University of Salamanca, George Washington University, Oxford University, University of CEMA Argentina, Universidad de los Andes Colombia, and the Institute of Latin American Studies in London.

Publications & Academic Contributions

López-Alves is the author of ten academic books published by Princeton University Press, Duke University Press, Cambridge University Press, Sudamericana, Santillana, and MacMillan. In addition, he has published four monographs and over fifty peer-reviewed academic articles, along with sixty articles in printed media. He has also worked as a foreign correspondent for several renowned media outlets.
