Marks the Start of our Master’s Academic Year

Miguel Ángel Centeno makes the Official Opening of the Master in Global & International Studies (MGIS)

The University of Salamanca’s Master in Global & International Studies formally inaugurated its academic year with an event that combined scholarly excellence and vibrant community engagement.

The ceremony featured a keynote lecture by Professor Miguel Ángel Centeno of Princeton University, one of the world’s leading scholars of political sociology. His address, “Without State or Nation: Political Development in Latin America”, offered critical insights into the historical and structural challenges shaping the region.

This inaugural lecture set the intellectual tone for the coming year, underscoring MGIS’s mission to provide advanced training in nationalism, conflict management, global business, migration, climate change, security, and intelligence.

The evening concluded with a cocktail reception, where faculty, students, and invited guests exchanged perspectives, built connections, and celebrated the launch of a new cycle of global learning in Salamanca.
