Matthias vom Hau, IBEI. Barcelona

Matthias vom Hau is an associate professor of comparative politics at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI). He has published widely, including in the American Journal of Sociology, Studies in Comparative International Development, Comparative Political Studies, and Theory and Society, on the relationship between nationalism and ethnicity, institutions, and international development with a regional focus on Latin America. He is currently finishing a book titled “Transformations of Nationalism: State Power and Ideological Change in Latin America” that offers a new theoretical framework to understand changes of official national ideologies over time.
