Javier Sierra Pierna is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Salamanca. He holds a double degree in Law and Business Studies from the University of Lleida and a MA in Evaluation of Legal Issues and Public Policies from the University of Salamanca. He has also been student at the Università di Roma II Tor Vergata (Italy) and the London School of Economics (United Kingdom). He has been visiting fellow at the Center for European Research in Microfinance (CERMi) at the Université de Mons (Belgium) and has undertaking fieldwork research in Bolivia and Peru.
He is a teacher at Cursos Internacionales of the University of Salamanca and he has been teaching at several universities in Spain, Colombia and Guatemala. He has been working as a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank and for the private sector in Spain. His research is focused on the evaluation of microfinance in Latin America.
