Carlos Fortea obtained his PhD in German Philology at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and is currently a professor at the University of Salamanca. From 2004 to 2012 he was the Dean of the Faculty of Translation and Documentation and member of the University’s Governing Council. Since 2013, he is the President of the Spanish Literary Translators Association (ACE Traductores). Carlos Fortea is a literary translator with over a hundred novels to his credit, written by Thomas Bernhard, Günter Grass, Stefan Zweig, Alfred Döblin, E.T.A. Hoffman and Eduard von Keyserling, among others. He is also the author of five novels.
